 About This Course

This module deals with the ethics of AI in different domains. First the existing legislation is compared, using the USA, the European Union and China, as the reference cases.

The course advances by considering the effect of AI systems in the justice domain, the urban case, in the financial markets, and the health providers.

We review the on-going discussion, discuss dystopian and utopian scenarios, and derive conclusions for the designer of AI systems.

Learning Objectives

  • By the end of this course, you will be able to:

    • Understand existing laws regulating or not regulating AI in different countries
    • Determine the limits of applications of AI systems
    • Derive rules of engagement for AI systems, based on a best design effort trying to constrain their application fllowing ethic guidelines.
    • Determine which ethic guidelines are realistic and necessary.

    Micro Degree

    • This course is offered as a micro degree.
    • German UDS Micro Degrees are compatible with the European MOOC Consortiums Common Micro Credentials Framework.
    • Micro Degrees will be rewarded with an equivalent of 5 ECTS.
    • Micro Degrees are offered to non-regular students and require a fee of €900.
